journal contribution
posted on 2025-05-29, 10:47 authored by Rachel Fossey
This reflective piece sets out the rationale for using low tech Simulation-Based Learning (SBL) as a pedagogical approach in Initial Teacher Training. It charts how SBL is woven throughout a UK University based course which trains Primary School teachers. The journey of decision making leading to the curriculum approach is described and detailed examples of how some of the sessions work in practice are included. There are personal reflections on the process which has included collaboration with another University and School Partners; both activities have been instrumental in creating materials for use in SBL sessions. In the conclusion, next steps are identified including signposts to future research.
