A newly-discovered letter from Charles Dickens to Robert Lytton, neglected son of Dickens' friend, the novelist Bulwer Lytton, reveals both Dickens' humanity and the harsh circumstances of Robert Lytton's youthful life. It also cast light on the relationship between Dickens and Bulwer Lytton, famously the instigator of the revised ending to Great Expectations.
