This chapter will focus on current research into musical
communication in clinical improvisation as a core ingredient of human interaction in music therapy practice. A vital aspect of this practice is the recognition of kairological moments ,
i.e. important episodes of the music therapy process that indicate and promote change in therapy. How to document, recognize, and analyze such moments is one of the major challenges in understanding why music seems to work in healing processes.
